What should you look for in offers?

Above all, check what the price covers and exactly what it includes. Two offers with a similar price can lead to a very different stay because they refer to different numbers of guests or nights, travel periods or rooms, include a different meal plan or have different conditions. So compare only once both offers are on the same basis, and finally look at the specific offer for your travel dates on the hotel's website.

What the price covers

Offer prices may be given per person per day, per person for the whole stay or for two adults together. A “from” price applies under the conditions stated with the offer, for example for a particular room category or travel period. For your travel dates and the room you want, the price may be different. Some offers require a minimum number of nights or apply only within a fixed period. Recalculate both offers for the same number of people and nights and compare prices for the same travel period and a comparable room category.

What is included

Check which meals and drinks are included in the price. Then see whether spa access, a treatment, private spa time or a guided activity is part of this particular offer or costs extra. What counts is the description of what is included, not the package name or a symbol.

Activities, lifts and guest cards

If an offer mentions excursions, lifts or a guest card, separate what the hotel itself offers, such as guided hikes, from what the guest card covers. Not every place to stay issues a guest card for public transportation. Where there is one, it may cover selected cable cars in addition to buses and trains and, depending on the region, other services or discounts. A property's offer may also list exceptions, for example for certain shuttles, or a period of validity. Check the details of your card and offer to see whether the train or cable car ride you want to take is included, discounted or costs extra. If this information is missing, ask the hotel.

Additional costs that may apply

Other costs may be added to the offer price, for example the local tourist tax, which may be charged per person per night, a garage space, charging an electric car, bringing a dog or spa treatments. Check which of these items apply to your stay and whether they are shown in the offer.

Payment and cancellation

Before booking, check whether a deposit is required, when you have to pay and until when you can cancel free of charge. These conditions can differ between two offers even for the same room.

How to compare

Make two offers comparable: the same people, nights and travel dates, a comparable room category and a comparable scope of meals and other services. Then look up the price for your travel dates and the booking conditions on the hotel's official website. If information that matters for your trip is missing there, ask the hotel before you book. An overview on our platform does not replace the hotel's current offer.
