Hotel DIE POST am Ortler
★★★★ S
Hotel Die Post am Ortler in Sulden in the Vinschgau Valley: Alpine Luxury at 1,900 Metres High above the Vinschgau Valley, at 1,900 m in the mountain village of Sulden, Hotel Die Post am Ortler combines time-honoured South Tyrolean hospitality with a new, light-hearted form of alpine luxury. Verena and Andreas Wallnöfer run their 4-star superior hotel, completely reopened in December 2025, as a host family in the heart of a snow-sure, clean-air area. From the hotel, the view falls directly upon the King Ortler, at 3,905 m the highest mountain in South Tyrol. The Sulden ski area with runs reaching up to 3,250 m, the Stelvio National Park, the Messner Mountain Museum Ortles, the Stelvio Pass as well as Trafoi, Prad and the Vinschgau Valley floor are all right on the doorstep. In summer, hikes to alpine huts, via ferratas and mountain bike tours beckon, while in winter it's all about ski days, ski tours, cross-country skiing and snowshoe hikes. When it comes to cuisine, the Post gourmet half board stands for indulgence from morning to evening: breakfast with mountain views, a gourmet buffet, an afternoon buffet with coffee and cake, and in the evening modern interpretations of South Tyrolean and Italian cuisine. The kitchen team cooks fresh, seasonal dishes using products from selected regional gourmet partners. In addition, there is an à-la-carte restaurant that also welcomes external guests as a gourmet restaurant in the Vinschgau Valley, the Post.Bar with fine wines, cocktails and spirits, as well as the Spa.Bistro with light bowls, salads, finger food and freshly pressed juices. The centrepiece is the new Ortles Spa³ spanning 4,200 m²: 2,000 m² of sauna landscape featuring a Finnish panoramic sauna, organic and clay saunas, a steam bath, brine bath, salt grotto with infrared loungers and relaxation rooms with waterbeds, plus an open-air whirlpool and a textile-free hideaway for guests aged 16 and over. Outside, 2,200 m² of outdoor grounds await with a natural bathing lake, a 20 m sport pool and sun loungers that rotate with the sun. The Family.Spa with wide water slides, kids' club with supervised care and a youth club with a gaming room make the hotel a family hotel in South Tyrol, while treatments with Vitalis Dr. Joseph round off the wellness hotel experience in Sulden. The 73 rooms and suites bear the names of the surrounding peaks, from Angelus and Zebrù to the Ortler Sky Suite.
