Variety

Three facets, no ranking

Wellness in South Tyrol is not just one thing. Some hotels are designed as wellness hotels from the ground up, others have made their spa their focus and many combine pool, warmth and quiet into a defined combination of offerings alongside everything else that defines each hotel. The three groups describe these facets. They are not quality levels, and the characteristics are not mutually exclusive.

Geographic distribution

Almost everywhere in South Tyrol

101of South Tyrol's 116 municipalities have at least one of the 722 recorded hotels.

Wellness is not confined to a few places. The hotels are spread across valleys and altitudes, from the major tourist areas to small municipalities.

The table shows the number of recorded hotels in the seven district communities and the municipality of Bolzano. This breakdown differs from the platform's regions.

Water, retreat, private wellness

What is documented at the hotels

Four forms that shape wellness in South Tyrol, counted as minimum figures within the 722 hotels. Only what a hotel explicitly describes was counted. So “not documented” does not mean “not present.” A hotel can also have several of these forms, so the figures cannot be added up.

How we counted

Each of the 722 hotels is assigned to exactly one of the three hotel categories according to fixed criteria. The four feature counts show how many of these hotels have each form documented. We explain the criteria, counting method and sources on the methodology page for the South Tyrol Wellness Report 2026.
