Puster Valley

  • Puster Valley

Description

The Puster Valley runs east from the Eisacktal to the border with Austria. Around Bruneck (Brunico), the main town, the valley widens. Side valleys such as the Ahrntal (Valle Aurina) and the Antholzer Tal (Valle di Anterselva) lead into the mountains, and in the east lie Innichen (San Candido) and the Sexten Dolomites (Dolomiti di Sesto).

Because the valley is long, it is worth thinking about where you would like to stay before choosing a hotel: in the main town with short distances, in a quiet side valley or in the south of the valley at the foot of the Dolomites. Hotels there may also be assigned to the Dolomites region.

Taisten/Welsberg
Above the sunny village of Taisten, between meadows and dense forests, lies the Alpen Tesitin. Here the Puster Valley opens up and the Dolomites rise on the horizon. The day belongs to the outdoors: hiking, snowshoeing through the winter, skiing and listening to the silence along the way. The Feichter family runs the hotel together with the AT-Team. In the morning, bread from the organic bakery and honey from a Taisten beekeeper come to the table, in summer on the hotel terrace. In the afternoon there are cakes from the hotel's own AT-Kuchenmanufaktur bakery, and in the evening a gourmet menu of five to seven courses full of flavors from South Tyrol and Italy.
Ahrntal
In Steinhaus in the Ahrntal, AMONTI and LUNARIS stand directly opposite the Klausberg valley station. Two hotels form one resort with lots of wood, spacious rooms and views of the surrounding mountains. The Sky Lounge is reserved for adults, while families have their own area in the Family Spa Blue Planet. The day starts with a gourmet breakfast buffet. In the afternoon a vitality buffet is ready, and in the evening the kitchen serves creative gourmet dishes with regional produce. If you want to move between meals, the mountain lift is right next door. If you stay in, you can choose between pools, saunas and quiet places to rest.
Innichen
At the Naturhotel Leitlhof above Innichen, the Sexten Dolomites accompany the day. The view reaches as far as the Haunold group, even while swimming in the heated outdoor pool. The Alpin Spa adds an indoor pool, onsen pool, whirlpool and sauna world. Lots of wood and large windows bring the landscape inside. The hotel includes the Mühlhof farm with vegetables, fruit, herbs and Angus cattle. Its produce finds its way into the kitchen, which combines South Tyrolean dishes with Italian influences. The day begins with breakfast in front of a Dolomites panorama. Then it's off to the mountains or back into the warm water.
